Update Student Accommodations for State Assessments (1/10/12 - 1/13/12)
Due to wording changes, some of the State Assessment Accommodations for students with IEPs done prior to 10/16/2011 will no longer be selected within the WebKIDSS State Assessment Page. Please check the State Assessment Accommodations for all IEP's that were completed prior 10/16/2011. We will unlock WebKIDSS from 8:00am Tuesday to 5:00 pm Friday so that Primary Providers can access the State Assessment page and correct the WebKIDSS file by re-selecting the appropriate accommodations. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Common Core Standards and IEP Goals
Question: Should we begin linking IEP goals to the Common Core Standards rather than KS State Standards.
Long Answer: Kansas has adopted the Common Core Standards (CCS) and they will be implemented in 2014. The coop will be providing copies of the CCS to all interrelated staff in the near future to allow you to begin to become
familiar with them. Because this years KG students will not be assessed until 2014 it would be very appropriate to link IEP goals for students in KG and younger to the CCS. For HS students that may never be assessed using the CCS it would make sense to continue to build the IEP goal around the
current KS Standards. For all grade levels in between, unless your district decides to implement the CCS now, it will require some professional judgment on your part. Things to consider:
1. You will need to be "up to speed" with the CCS by 2014 so you will want to begin working with them now and developing a transition plan to get to 2014.
2. It would be very appropriate to begin to use the CCS where they overlap the current standards
3. Current assessments are developed to assess the KS standards but questions assessing CCS will begin being added this year with more CCS questions next year.
Short Answer: As long as you have the IEP goal tied to either a KS Standards or a CCS the file review criteria will be met.
