KPERS Pre-Retirement Seminars
KPERS is putting on a series of free seminars for members who are within five years of retirement. Click here for a list of location and dates for the seminars.
Topics Include:
Choosing a date, how much is your benefit, steps in the process, payment options, taxes, life insurance and working after you retire.
To register for a free seminar, email KPERS or call them at 1-888-275-5737. Be sure to include your name, the location you would like to attend, the number attending including you and your daytime phone number.
Attention NCKSEC Paraeducators
Anyone who met the Highly Qualified standard under NCLB, due to having 48 or more college hours or by taking the HQ assessments, but who have not received his/her certificate needs to contact me at wtopel@ruraltel.net or 785-543-2149 .
KSDE, no longer mails out the certificates. I will have to go to a website database and download them, then print and send/ or email them to the paraeducators. I did not keep track this year of who I completed applications for, so I do not know who to go in and search for. Next year we will keep a list and then go in and pull everyone's certificate using the list in the late spring .
When you contact me let me know if you would like the certificate printed and delivered to you or if you prefer just a PDF copy sent via email. If you prefer the email file please attach the email you wish for me to sent it to. Insurance Update- Flexible Spending Accounts Forms Updated
A flex voucher for unreimbursed medical expense form and dependent daycare form have been added on the Fidelity website.
American Fidelity Health Insurance Update
American Fidelity, NCKSEC's Health Insurance provider, released a new update on changes to their coverage, focused particularly on reimbursement plans. The update can be read here.
Mileage Checks
If you have not received your mileage deposit slip via email and need to know the amount, email Joyce. We are having problems with the email system that we hope to have rectified soon.
The start time for trainings (CPR, Mandt, ect.) have been moved to 9:00 AM, unless otherwise noted, to facilitate staff traveling to the training. Consult the inservice dates page to check the times for upcoming trainings.
